Obituary

Agatha June Unger, 83 years, of Denmark, Iowa, died at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. She was born June 24, 1928, in Keokuk Falls, Oklahoma, a daughter of Joseph and Winnie Viola (Cantrell) Shivers. She first married John Nolan. They divorced. She married Henry A. Unger on February 13, 1970. He preceded her in death. Agatha moved to Iowa in 1962. She worked as an inspector at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, at Sheaffer Pen Company, and later returned to the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant until retirement. She enjoyed sewing and remodeling her home. She loved her family.

She is survived by one son, Gary (wife Cynthia) Nolan, of San Diego, California; six daughters: Diana (husband Marvin) Beach, of Wever, Iowa; Deandra (husband Roy) Patterson, of New London, Iowa; Saundra (husband Jerry) Melancon, of Prince Frederick, Maryland; Nancy (husband Gary) McCarty, of Keokuk, Iowa; Deena (husband Frank) Morales, of Roseville, California; and Deborah Bishop, of Waldport, Oregon; one sister, Augusta Seaton, of Prague, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2011, at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with Reverend Dan Buck, officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, rural Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
