Alice M. Poss, 86 yrs., of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 1:30 pm Monday, October 18, 2010 in Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born February 25, 1924 at Pontiac, Michigan a daughter of Wilford S.and Margaret E. (Felkner) DuCharme. On June 12, 1943, she married Francis Poss. He preceded her in death May 16, 1994.
During WWII, she was a munitions inspector in Pontiac. She was a homemaker, who raised five children. She enjoyed gardening, word and picture puzzles, traveling and antiquing. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Fort Madison Kingdom Hall. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her generous spirit and lively sense of humor.
She is survived by three sons: Terrence (wife Patricia) Poss, of Fridley, Minnesota; Larry (wife Judy) Poss, of Wrenshall, Minnesota; and Dwight Poss, of Arden Hills, Minnesota; two daughters: Joy (husband Jerry) Speir, of Fort Madison, Iowa and Carol (husband Jodie) Tesch, of Roseville, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two grandsons.
The body of Mrs. Poss has been cremated. A Memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3925 Ave L, Fort Madison, Iowa. Burial will be at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy Michigan at a later date. A memorial has been established for Lee County Hospice and P.A.W. Animal Shelter.
