Ann Lee Thompson, 90 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 10:40 pm Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born October 26, 1923 at Hale, Missouri, a daughter of Lester and Effie Mae (Boley) Woodard. On July 5, 1942, she married Leon W. Thompson at Unionville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1998.
She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. She worked many years at Sheaffer Pen and the Ordinance Plant. For 10 years, she and her husband, owned and operated Tommy's Maid-Rite. She also worked 10 years for Dr. Rashid, and retired in 1985. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was a 62 year member of the Eagle's Auxiliary and was a past Madam President. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, crafts, and quilting.
She is survived by one son, Stephen Thompson, of Fort Madison, Iowa; three daughters: Joyce Thompson, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Janet (husband Dale) Navntoft, of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Sandra Lehrke, of Montrose, Iowa; two sisters, Ruby Smith, of Mesa, Arizona and Donna Kennedy, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; ten grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Jerry Thompson, one great grandson, Bryson James Clark, two brothers, Billy Jr. Woodard and Howard Wayne Woodard, and three sisters: Audrey Doty, Juanita Tyner, and Margaret Lynn Woodard.
Her body has been cremated. Family will greet friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Monday January 20, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday January 20, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Reverend John Simpson officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. Memorial contributions have been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
