Bernice Viola Dalrymple, 101 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 9:35 am Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Montebello Health Care Center, Hamilton, Illinois. She was born February 25, 1913 at Rothville, Missouri, a daughter of Walter Dennis and Ellen Theresa (Tracy) Sharp. On October 30, 1930, she married Jay Edward Dalrymple at Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death March 10, 1964.

Bernice had been a resident of Fort Madison since 1926. She was a custodian for the Fort Madison Community School District for 21 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Fort Madison Senior Citizens and the Fort Madison United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Howard Jay Dalrymple and Wilbur Edward Dalrymple, both of Fort Madison, Iowa; two daughters, Esther (husband Billie) Drollinger and Mary Alice (husband Paul) Woods, both of Fort Madison, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, three sisters and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. A funeral service will follow and will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 28, 2014 the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with Reverend Lanette Van officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established for the Fort Madison United Methodist Church, and contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
