Obituary

Betty Lou Boeding, 89 years, of West Point, Iowa died at 11:59 pm Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the West Point Care Center, West Point. She was born September 19, 1927 at Carthage, Illinois, a daughter of James S. and Laura C. (Schmidt) Willard. On January 17, 1948, she married Arthur G. "Archie" Boeding at Fort Madison, Iowa.

Betty was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, West Point. She was an avid reader. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was devoted to her faith and family.

She is survived by two sons: Mark (wife Bev) Boeding, of Wellington, Colorado; Marvin (wife Mary) Boeding, of Fairfield, Iowa; three daughters: Nancy (husband Tony) Panther, of West Point, Iowa; Monica (husband Bill) Schulte, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Mary Lou Menke (Shawn Carlile), of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, nine grandchildren: Doug Panther, Nicole Panther (Jeff Rump), Paul (Jody) Schulte, Michael Schulte, Christopher (Jill) Schulte, Clint (Abbey) Boeding, Kim (Jen) Boeding, Danielle (Nate) Scott, and Adam Menke (Taylor Leake); 16 great grandchildren: Kaeli and Caden Hutson; Ellie, Molly, Sophia, and Liam Schulte; Cameron, Piper, and Marcus Boeding; Everette and Lucas Boeding; Andi, Alex, and Archie Scott; Owen and JR Menke; two nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Edith McClintock and Hazel Harrell, one son-in-law Edwin Menke, and a niece.

A Rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, West Point. Visitation will be held from 3:30 - 5:00 pm Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the funeral home, where a Christian Wake Service will begin at 5:00 pm with Reverend Mark Spring officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday, May 8, 2017 the St. Mary's of Assumption Catholic Church, West Point, with Reverend Joseph Phung, as celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, West Point, Iowa. A memorial has been established for Calvary Cemetery and St. Jude's Children's Hospital, contributions may be made at the church or the Barr- Holtkamp Funeral Home, 412 Ave C, P.O. Box 247, West Point, Iowa 52656.
