Carol Elaine Chadwick was born November 28, 1933 at Scotland, Missouri, a daughter of Lester Carl and Esther Cora (Wortman) Boone. She married E.M. "Chad" Chadwick at Kirksville, Missouri. They were married 42 years. He preceded her in death April 5, 2001. She had been a resident of the area for more than 30 years. She worked in the office at the Kirksville High School and then for Southeastern Community College at the Iowa State Penitentiary, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Montrose Presbyterian Church, where she also worked as the secretary for many years. She was a member and founder of the Iowa Federated Women's Club Chapter in Southeast Iowa. She loved quilting, decorating wedding cakes and cooking for the Lion's Club meetings in Montrose and big family dinners. She enjoyed antiques and had several dealer booths.
At 76 years of age, she died at 7:15 am Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at her home. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth (husband Michael) Scott, of Montrose, Iowa; one brother, Jerry (wife Peggy) Boone, of Lufkin, Texas; one sister-in-law, Delene Chadwick, of Quincy, Illinois; four grandchildren: Chad (wife Jamie) Howard, Josh (Erica) Howard, Charlene Scott, and Darlene Scott; five great grandchildren: Darianne, Gavin, Sarah, Casey, and Syndi; nieces, nephews, cousins: Margaret Shibley, Jack Smock, Robert Smock, Delbert Smock, Ronald Smock, and Karen Smith; and numerous other cousins and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Mary Fry; one brother; Charles Boone, two nieces, Jill and Robin; and two nephews, Jody and Preston.
Her family will greet friends from 6:30 - 7:30 pm Thursday evening, August 26, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, August 27, 2010 at the IOOF Cemetery, Hurdland, Missouri. Rev. Jim Eads will officiate. A memorial has been established for Iowa Hospice, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
