Catherine Ann Scott, 63 years, of Burlington, Iowa died Wednesday July 6, 2011 at her residence in Burlington, Iowa. She was born October 18, 1947 at Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred Cartmill, Sr. and Espnola (Terry) Cartmill. She first married Leland Dickerson. They divorced. She later married Douglas Scott, Jr.
She was a registered nurse for 45 years retiring as a director of nursing in 2008. She lived in Quincy, Illinois, then in California for 22 years and later moved back to the Burlington and Fort Madison area. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was of the Christian faith and was very active at the Second Baptist Church in her youth. She was most recently active at the New Fellowship Christian Church in Burlington, Iowa.
Catherine is survived by one son: Darwin (wife Tomika) Dickerson, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one step-son: Doug Scott, III, of California ; one daughter: Krista Dickerson, of Allen, Texas; three step-daughters: Dori (husband Jevon) Hudson, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Tonyia Scott, of Los Angeles, California; Tajuana Scott, of Los Angeles, California; four brothers: Alfred (wife Rose) Cartmill, Jr., of Bettendorf, Iowa; Rev. Albert (wife Dorothea) Cartmill, Sr, of Quincy, Illinois; Terry (wife Carina) Cartmill, Sr., of Burlington, Iowa; Rev. Gary (wife Janet) Cartmill, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one sister: Marilyn (husband Denny) Wilkerson, of Burlington, Iowa; 18 Grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Patrick Cartmill and one step-daughter Seana Scott McCormick.
Friends are welcome after 3:00 pm Monday July 11, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel where family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday evening. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday July 12, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Reverend Gary Cartmill and Reverend Shane McCampbell will officiate. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison is in charge of arrangements.
