Charles Albert Howell Jr., 73 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 3:07 pm Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was born November 17, 1941 at Carthage, Illinois a son of Charles Sr. and Letha M. (DeWitt) Howell. He first married Cozette Lay. They later divorced. On June 11, 1988, he married Carla (Boose) Eid. She survives.

Chuck was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked at Gleason Corporation for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, scratch tickets, and going to casinos. He loved his dog, Peaches.

He is survived by his wife, Carla Howell, of Fort Madison, Iowa; three sons: Hank (Julie) Howell, of Keokuk, Iowa; Chuck (Ashley) Howell, of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Travis Howell, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two daughters, Rhonda Watson (Kevin Smith), of Fort Madison, Iowa and Darla (Dan) Dunbar, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one step son, Shawn (Dawn) Eid, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one sister, Melba Joy (Larry) Sargent, of Minnesota; six grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one step grandson.

His body has been cremated. His family will greet friends 5:00 - 7:00 pm Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services. No other formal services will be held. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services.
