Obituary

Claude C. Turpin Sr., 90 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 2:38 am Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was born November 16, 1924 at Harriman, Tennessee, the son of John Harvey and Mary Maude (Graves) Turpin. On July 28, 1951 at Chicago, Illinois, he married Alice L. Sargent.

Claude lived most of his life in Fort Madison. He was a 1943 graduate of Fort Madison High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He worked 13 years at the Ordinance Plant, and then another 23 years for Consolidated Packaging. He was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Turpin, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one son, Claude C. (wife Sheila) Turpin Jr., of Fort Madison, Iowa; one daughter, Carolyn L. (husband George) Frueh, of Branson, Missouri; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, one infant daughter, and four sisters.

His family will greet friends from 9:30 - 10:30 am Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will follow and be held at 10:30 am Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Bill Willis, officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established for the Fort Madison Community Hospital Foundation, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
