Obituary

Clifford Ray Wilson was born January 4, 1919 at rural West Point, Iowa a son of Clarence and Frances (Donnolly) Wilson. In 1947, he married Geneva Sommers. She preceded him in death in 1969. On August 19, 1978 he married Mildred L. (Willison) Wilson at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2001. Clifford was a graduate of Denmark Academy. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War II. Clifford farmed in the rural Denmark area until 1962. He then worked at Fruehauf Corporation until his retirement. He enjoyed coffee at the Denmark Jet Stop.

At 91 years of age, he died at 6:40 pm Thursday April 29, 2010 at the Henry County Health Center, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He is survived by one daughter, Donna (husband Mike) Martin, of New London, Iowa; two sons, Jeffery (wife Deborah) Wilson, of Dallas City, Illinois; and Bruce (wife Suzanne) Wilson, of Rolla, Missouri, four step-sons: Gale Mahnesmith, of Monmouth, Illinois; Jess Sholl, of Fort Madison, Iowa; James (wife Donna) Sholl, of Fort Madison; and Arnold Sholl, of Fort Madison; two step daughters, Raychel Cossens, of Minnesota and Loucinda Mahnesmith, of Galesburg, Illinois; two sisters, Ila (husband Richard) Newton, of West Point, Iowa and Verla (husband Jack) Cassady, of West Point, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, two brothers, Virgil Wilson and Forest Wilson, and one daughter Wanda Elliot.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am Monday May 3, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will follow and be held at 11:00 am at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Chad Savage, officiating. Burial will be at the Williamson Cemetery, Lake Wilderness Road, rural Denmark, Iowa. A memorial has been established for the Denmark Fire and Rescue, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
