Dale Eugene Anderson, 91 years, of McDonald, Tennessee and formerly of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 1:10 am Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Life Care of Collegedale, Tennessee. He was born June 28, 1922 at New London, Iowa, a son of Earl and June (Mathews) Anderson. He first married Lois Eichholz. They later divorced. On October 8, 1983, he married Joye Bess Gresham Counts at Fort Madison, Iowa. She preceded him in death July 23, 2004.
He worked for True Temper for 12 years, then at the Crandon Paper Mill for 27 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Montrose. He loved to pitch horseshoes, fish, sing, dance, and play musical instruments.
He is survived by three children: Charlotte Anderson, of McDonald, Tennessee; Roger (wife Kathy) Anderson, of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Vicky Van Winkle, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one stepson, Mark (wife Liz) Counts, of Fort Madison, Iowa; ten grandchildren; two step grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Mazie Englehart, of Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fort Madison. Father Mark Spring will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
