Daryl E. "Tiny" Seitz, 59 years, of Donnellson, Iowa died at 2:10 pm Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born June 3, 1951 at Burlington, Iowa a son of Dwight E. and Elaine (Scott) Seitz. On September 19, 1970, he married Brenda Cleveland at Fort Madison, Iowa. They were married for 40 years.
He lived most of his life in the area. He was a 1970 graduate of Fort Madison High School. He graduated from Quincy Technical School. In 1978, he started working as a draftsman for Hubinger/Roquette and moved to his current supervisor position in 1985. He was a member of George Washington Masonic Lodge #618, A.F. & A.M. For the past 6 years he had a concession stand and enjoyed traveling around selling at local fairs, festivals, and bike rallies. Years ago he coached Little League and Pony League baseball. He enjoyed buying, fixing, and selling houses. He liked watching the Cubs, Bears, and Hawkeyes. He also loved watching his grandkids play sports.
He was liked by those who worked for him. He will be missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Seitz, of Donnellson, Iowa; his mother, Elaine Seitz, of Fort Madison, Iowa, two sons: Douglas E. (wife Jennifer) Seitz, of Keokuk, Iowa and Christopher Seitz, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one brother, Jeff (wife Lisa) Seitz, of Brighton, Iowa; four sisters: Vicky Housman, of Denmark, Iowa; Debbie (husband Tom) Herold, of West Point, Iowa; Rhonda Seitz (and Marty Parker), of Denmark, Iowa; and Shaun (husband Mark) Fraise, of West Point, Iowa; two grandchildren: Drake and Joley Seitz; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Friends may call after 2:00 pm Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, where the family will meet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Rev. John Simpson, officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa.
A memorial has been established for the Diabetes Association, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
