Delbert Hasenclever, 100, of Wever, Iowa died at 2:50 pm Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the West Point Care Center, West Point, Iowa. He was born April 15, 1915 in Des Moines County, Iowa, a son of Herman and Emma (Wagner) Hasenclever. On April 19, 1963, he married Velma Lavon Glasscock in Kahoka, Missouri.
Delbert was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. In 2013, he was awarded the Bronze Star. For 26 years, he worked at Glenn Woodroffe Sawmill where he drove a truck and an end loader. Delbert and his wife enjoyed going to blue grass music shows. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was the treasurer for Rock Springs Cemetery for more than 60 years.
He is survived by his wife Velma Lavon Hasenclever, of West Point, Iowa; one sister, Elda Woodroffe, of Denmark, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Everett Hasenclever, Harlan Hasenclever, and Calvin Hasenclever, three sisters: Velma Johnson, Leona Wilbert, and Lelia Hasenclever, two infant sisters and two nephews: John Wilbert and Kirk Hasenclever.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with Reverend Dean Graber officiating. Burial with full military rites will be at South Walker Cemetery, rural Des Moines County, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
