Diana Lynn Thele, 73 years, formerly of Wever, Iowa died July 5, 2025 at her daughter's home in Luray, Missouri. She was born July 11, 1951 in Burlington, Iowa, a daughter of Donald and Dorothy (DeVilbiss) Gillette. On November 5, 1971, she married Gerald M. Thele in Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death January 6, 2010.
She was a graduate of Durango High School, Durango, Colorado. She returned to the area in 1969. She was a homemaker, farm hand and worked for Heartland Hackney Farm, New London. She was of the Catholic Faith, and a former member of St. Mary's Augusta. She was member of the Southeast Iowa High School Rodeo Association. She and Gerald exhibited Belgian horses at Old Threshers, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
She is survived by her children: Shannon Beaber (Tom Ruble), of Memphis, Missouri; Danette Thele (Danny Graham), of Luray, Missouri; Richard (Christina) Thele, of Fort Madison, Iowa; siblings: Catherine Nealey; Jean (Larry) Frueh; Chuck (Denise) Gillette; Terry Abolt (Rick Joint); Alice (Roy) Lawson and Alec (Tina) Rhea; six grandchildren: Joshua (Dacia) Thele, Chase Rogers, Reece Thele, Alex Thele, Benjamin Thele and Marcus Thele; one great granddaughter, Torrin Thele; one great grandson, Carter Thele; one great granddaughter on the way; nieces and nephews; two aunts, Irene Martin and Betty DeVilbiss and other special family members, including Joanne (Gary) Roth, Peggy (Steve) Forney and Art (Mary) Rieke. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gerald.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. Family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am Sunday, July 20, 2025 with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 am Sunday morning at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa, with JP Williams officiating. Burial will be at the Augusta Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Denmark Ball Association and Denmark Fire Department, contributions may be left at Barr Memorial Chapel. Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Thele family.
