Obituary

Donald Richard "Dick" Stockwell, 88, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Sunday, August 30, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born July 8, 1938 at Itaska County, Deer River, Minnesota, the son of Clarence Frances Sr. and Inez Elizabeth (Nickerson) Stockwell. On June 2, 1957, he married Virginia Junker at Staples, Minnesota. He moved to Fort Madison, Iowa in 1972. He retired from Dial Corp., now ConAgra, with 43 ½ years of service. He was of the Christian Faith. He liked to stay busy, whether it was tinkering with something or helping people. He loved watching westerns on TV.

He is survived by two daughters: RaeLynn (Ed) Fowler, of Fort Madison, Iowa; Rebekah Stockwell, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one sister: Myrtle Peters, of Monticello, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Jennifer, Nicole (Bob), Jason (Renea), Brandon (Melissa), Rachel (James) and Shilo; fifteen great grandchildren: Tawlivia, Jahden, Emily, Scarlett, Ethan, Natalie, Delilah, Alexandra, KateLynn, Conner, Madison, Mason, Noah, Bentley and Jackson; special friends, Joan and Dave Kraft and Buster, his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Virginia, one daughter: RoxAnne, infant daughter: Baby Stockwell, three sisters: Florence Wertz, Clara Reigel and Delores Satko; four brothers: William, Alden, Clarence, Jr. and Jack; granddaughter Tawna, great grandson Daniel and great great grandson Karson.

Burial of cremated remains are being planned for a later date at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa.
