Edith Pauline Boyd was born September 3, 1921 at Dover Township, Pike County, Missouri, a daughter of Albert and Sallie Bettie (Randell) Rudd. On May 25, 1941, she married Homer Lee Boyd at Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1980. Mrs Boyd attended Victory Business School in Chicago, Illinois. She was a secretary and worked for a variety of different companies and businesses including: an attorney, Salvinia, NBC, IAAP, Dr. Harper, and the Dial Corporation, from which she retired in 1986. She loved music. She played the piano and the organ and she sang in and directed church choirs. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church and also attended at the Calvary First Assembly of God Church.
At 88 years of age, she died at 9:20 pm Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. Survivors include two niece who were raised as daughters: Cheryl (husband Rev. JT) Brown, of Hamilton, Illinois and Sharman Lea; Stone Mountain, Georgia; and a host of other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Memorial Services will follow and be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, with Reverend Sylvia Tillman, officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa.
