Edna Lorene "Sug" Sloan passed away June 24, 2016 at the age of 97 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on April 20, 1919 in Mt. Hamill, IA, daughter of Roy C. and Mary (Paschal) Bell. On June 30, 1940, she married Maurice L. Sloan at the Union Presbyterian Church in Ft. Madison, IA. He preceded her in death, October 28, 1987.
She lived in many different states including Texas, Arizona, California, and New Mexico where ever her husband's employment or military service required them to live. She was employed as a Buyer for the Bry's Department for Meyer Bros. Dept. Stores in Houston and later as Assistant Buyer at Joske's in San Antonio. He is survived by one sister, Neva Forrest of Perry, IA; one brother, Richard (wife, Kay) Bell of Burlington, IA; sisters-in-law, Rita Bell and Betty Sloan Bergthold; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends; especially at Wedgewood Apartments in San Antonio, TX where she lived many years, and Wilcrest Alamo Ranch Senior Living. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Bill Bell; sister, Vivian Frels; and nephew, Jim Frels.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday June 30, 2016 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa, with Reverend Nancy Love officiating.
