Elizabeth May Snider, 77 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 1:40 pm Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Arbor Court, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was born October 11, 1932 at Fort Madison, Iowa, a daughter of Frank Asbury and Eva (McCartney) Dean. On May 20, 1956, she married Merle John Snider at Donnellson, Iowa. He preceded her in death.
Elizabeth was a 1950 graduate of Fort Madison High School. Before marriage, she worked at the Sheaffer Pen Company. After her children were raised she went to work in food service at the Fort Madison High School. After retirement Merle and Elizabeth bought a motor home and enjoyed their winters in Yuma, Arizona. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Sophie B. Wright Circle of King's Daughters. She enjoyed crocheting and needle work. Elizabeth was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one son, Howard (wife Robin) Snider, of Nevada, Iowa; one daughter, Cindy (husband Lindy) Roberts, of Fort Madison, Iowa; and four grandchildren: Rachel Roberts , Sarah Roberts, Nathan Snider, and Marisa Snider. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Paul Dean.
Her family will meet friends prior to the funeral service from 10:00 - 11:00 am Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Fort Madison, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Fort Madison, Iowa, with Reverend Brenda Goodall, officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has be established for the First United Methodist Church.
