Obituary

Esther Morse, 92, of Fort Madison, Iowa fell into the arms of God on Saturday, August 19, 2023. She was born September 20, 1930 at Brighton, Colorado, a daughter of John and Mary (Bitter) Ells. On May 6, 1952, she married Charlie Martin Morse at Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 30, 2015.

She was a homemaker. For 25 years, she worked as a nurses aid at the former Fort Madison Community Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, sewing and traveling. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Esther was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her six children; Charlotte Fraise, of North Dakota; Rebecca (Ronald Jr.) Leffler, Tennessee; Linda King (Bruce Scott), of Georgia; Steven (Esther) Morse, of Panama; Rose (Bruce) Bohnenkamp, of Iowa; and Sheila Morse, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; Spencer Fraise, Adam Fraise, Ronald Leffler III, Heather Leffler, Barry King II, Benjamin King, Joey Morse, Jennie Inger, Emily McPeak, and Alexander Bohnenkamp; many great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, four sisters, one granddaughter Melissa Leffler, and one daughter-in-law Julie Morse.

Her family will greet friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, followed an 11:00 am Funeral Service at the funeral home, with Chaplain Gordon Hawkins from EveryStep Hospice officiating. Burial will be at the Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
