Obituary

Eva B. Penrod, 67 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 8:40 pm Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa. She was born July 18, 1946 at Fort Madison, Iowa, a daughter of Woodrow Wilson and Martha Ellen (Carter) Brown. She married Leroy Penrod.

Eva lived most of her life in Fort Madison. She worked as a supervisor at Hardees for eight years. She worked at the Kensington for 20 years. In 2003, she was a Citizen of the Year nominee. She enjoyed reading, walking, crafts, and playing dominos with friends. She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by four sons: Kevin (Kathy) Penrod; Kenneth Penrod; Kelly (Jodi) Penrod; and Kent (Tina) Penrod, all of Fort Madison, Iowa; one daughter Kassie (friend Kevin Carlson) Hogan, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one brother John "Jack" (Pat) Smutzer, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sisters, LaVivian Prough, of Kirksville, Missouri and Joyce Pranger, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one half sister JoAnn Messmer, of Fort Madison, Iowa; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Harold Brown, and two sisters Ruth Prough and Helen Stockwell.

Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. Her family will greet friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday April 6, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Monday April 7, 2014 at the funeral home. Pastor Bill Willis will officiate. Burial will be held at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
