Obituary

Faye Bergthold, 93 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 12:20 am Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at River Hills Village, Keokuk, Iowa. She was born February 27, 1919 at Donnellson, Iowa, a daughter of Edwin J. and Lena (Schlicher) Krebill. On July 6, 1947, she married Milton Bergthold at the Donnellson Mennonite Church, Donnellson, Iowa.

Faye was a 1936 graduate of Donnellson High School and was the valedictorian of her graduating class. In 1937, she graduated from the Fort Madison Business College. Before she was married she worked at Sheaffer Pen as a secretary for 10 years. Later she worked as a home health aid and supervisor for the North Lee County Homemaker Home Health program for a number of years. She was a member of the former Santa Fe United Methodist Church, where she was the second grade Sunday school teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a seamstress and a volunteer with RSVP. She and Milton enjoyed square dancing. They also loved to travel and visited all 50 states. She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed time with her family. She loved the Lord.

She is survived by her husband, Milton Bergthold, of River Hills Village, Keokuk, Iowa; three daughters: Nancy (husband Michael) Davenport, of Robins, Iowa; Martha (husband Carl) Pitts, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; Bettie (husband David) Burch, of Burlington, Iowa; one son, Ron (wife Gwyn) Bergthold, of Nashville, Tennessee; ten grandchildren: Jenny Glad, Benjamin Davenport, David Davenport, James Davenport, Joseph Burch, Jacob Burch, Cara Bergthold, Cali Huber, Carly Bergthold, and Caleb Bergthold; 10 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Marvin Bergthold; three brothers: Erwin, Milton, and Glen; and one sister, Edith Frueh.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 2710 West Ave, Burlington, Iowa. A funeral service will follow and begin at 11:00 am Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Calvary Baptist Church, Burlington, with Pastor Simeon Counterman and Chaplain Jim Luder, officiating.
