Ferol Jean Hudson, 86 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Saturday, January 18, 2025 at her home.  She was born April 9, 1938 at Muncie, Indiana, a daughter of Russell and Thelma (Berrier) Pursifull.  On February 14, 1995, she married William "Bill" Lewis Hudson at the Santa Fe United Methodist Church, Fort Madison.

She worked in administration at the Iowa State Penitentiary for 19 years.  She was a member of the Fort Madison United Methodist Church.  She and Bill enjoyed traveling.  Ferol was an artist, and enjoyed painting.  She stayed busy with embroidery, crocheting, and quilting, She was a great baker, making cookies and hard candies. She played the piano and organ, at home and at church.  Her ladies weekly Mahjong game was a favorite for her.  She had a green thumb and was known for growing beautiful orchids.

She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Hudson of Fort Madison, Iowa; children: Shawn (Karla) Leonhard of Hamilton, Illinois and Jeffrey Leonhard of Camdenton, Missouri; three step-children: Jill (Steve) Pitts of Alabama, Janna Hudson-Birchmeier of Michigan and David (Marie) Hudson of Texas; six grandchildren: Kyle Leonhard, Jasma "Nikki" Schwieterman, Cody Leonhard, Colbi Peterson, Taylor Birchmeier, and Ashtyn Prater; 12 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Bill Pursifull and Janet Greene, son, Mark Leonhard and step-son, Doug Birchmeier.

Her family will greet friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the Barr Memorial Chapel.  Funeral services will follow and begin at 11:00 am at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Padma Templeton officiating.  Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Ferol Hudson family and an online guest book may be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
