Floreen Fuerman, 79 years, of West Point, Iowa died on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at her home. She was born January 1, 1934 at Houghton, Iowa, a daughter of Joseph and Louise (Mohrfeld) Menke. She married Robert Henry Fuerman, on February 23, 1952 at St. James' Church, St. Paul, Iowa.
She attended St. John's School in Houghton. She was a homemaker, and she also drove a school bus for over 35 years. She was a member of St. Mary's of Assumption Catholic Church, West Point. She was a St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved canning, cooking, and baking for her family. She especially loved her grandkids and great grandson.
She is survived by two sons, Robert H (wife Deb) Fuerman II, of Des Moines, Iowa and Steve L. (wife Kathy) Fuerman, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two brothers, Carl (wife Connie) Menke, of Fort Madison, Iowa and Mark (wife Helen) Menke, of Fort Madison, Iowa; six sisters: Vera Evans, of Dewar, Iowa; Betty (husband Marvin) Merschman, of St. Paul, Iowa; Connie Conrad, of Nauvoo, Illinois; JoAnn Landers, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Cathy (husband Larry) Holtkamp, of Salem, Iowa; Mary Jo (husband Jim) Koeller, of Donnellson, Iowa; three grandchildren: Seth (Brittni) Fuerman, Ezra Fuerman, and Clary Fuerman; one great grandson, Elijah; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Robert Menke and David Menke; four sisters: Marcella Kempker, Doris Kempker, Delores Bohnenkamp, and Miriam Holtkamp.
A Rosary will be recited at 2:30 pm Tuesday, October 1, 2012 at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, West Point, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 5:30 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the funeral home where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the St. Mary's of Assumption Catholic Church, West Point, Iowa with Reverend Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, West Point. A memorial has been established for West Point Fire and Rescue, contributions may be made at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home or at the church on the day of the service.
