Frances Geraldine "Gerry" Koeber, 85 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 8:03 pm Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the West Point Care Center, West Point, Iowa. She was born March 15, 1926 in Scotland County, Missouri the daughter of John Clifford and Ava (Parish) Wollam. On April 24, 1955, she married David Roger Koeber at Anson, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2001.
She had been a resident of Fort Madison since 1943. She did clerical work in the personnel office at Sheaffer Pen Company for 23 years. Later she managed payroll for Fruehauf for 6 years and for an additional 7 years, she was the secretary to the Engineers of Manufacturing at First Miss. She enjoyed traveling and researching genealogy. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Old Fort Genealogy Society.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Deloris Wollam, of Kahoka, Missouri; nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, John A. Wollam and A. Eugene Wollam, one sister, Pauline Losey, one niece, and one nephew.
Her family will meet friends from 12:00 - 1:00 pm Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Brenda Goodall, officiating. Burial will be at Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established for the First United Methodist Church, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
