Fred Edward Mincks, 80, of Fort Madison, Iowa passed away Monday, October 13, 2025 due to a long battle with Dementia. He was born September 6,1945 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Phillip and Margaret (Murphy) Mincks. He was previously married to Charlotte Eckhart and Judy Perkins. On April 4, 2004 he married Dianna Hymes Hillyer in Fort Madison.
Fred was a truck driver for 55+ years, retiring from Liberty Transport only to work again for Troutman Trucking. He saw the world from the cab of his rig. He loved his profession, and he was good at it. Fred was a member of the Masons, the Eagles club, and past member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He loved to ride his Harley and play pool. He was a lover of country music with George Jones being his favorite artist.
He is survived by his wife, Dianna Mincks of Fort Madison; two sons, Fred Jr (Teri) Mincks of Geneseo, Illinois and Nicholas Mincks of Albertville, Minnesota; stepson, Nathan Hillyer of Fort Madison; one brother, Dennis (Marsha) LaRue of Davenport, Iowa; four grandsons: Justin, Kyle, and Ryker Mincks and Layne Hillyer; one granddaughter Aurora Mincks, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, his sister Sherry and Jim Benck, one brother Daniel Mincks, and one niece, Julie.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 - 6:30 pm Thursday October 16, 2025 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. Per his wishes, following the visitation his body will be cremated. Burial will be in Des Moines, Iowa, with this father. Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Mincks family.
