Obituary

Georgina V. Frantz, 77 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 10:20 pm Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born September 19, 1933 at Fort Madison, Iowa a daughter of William J. and Kathryn (Bohnenkamp) Kamp. On August 11, 1973 she married Thomas E. Frantz at the St. John's United Church of Christ in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Mrs. Frantz owned and operated antique shops in the area retiring in 2005. Prior to that she worked on the pilot line at Sheaffer Pen Company and was a manager and Vice President of the Anthes Hotel. She was an active member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, P.E.O. Chapter KV, two Red Hat groups, the Old Fort Commission, and the first Fort Madison Main Street. She was one of the original founders of the Old Settlers Association and was Citizen of the Year in 2003. She loved morning coffee at the Ivy with her friends, collecting antiques, and Sheaffer pens, and talking about "the old days."

She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Frantz, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sons: Art Roberts, of Burlington, Iowa and Matt Roberts, of Fort Madison, Iowa; four step-sons: Dana (wife Geraldine) Frantz, of Napoleans, Australia; Terry (wife Carla) Frantz, of Milwaukee, WI; Keith Frantz, of Rockford, IL; and Steve (wife Cindy) Frantz, of Ames, Iowa; one step-daughter, JoDee (husband Howard) Wolfe, of Bellevue, Iowa; three brothers: Mick Kamp, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Jerry (wife Sherilyn) Kamp, of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Pat (wife Sharon) Kamp, of Fort Madison, Iowa; 2 grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, 13 step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 daughter-in-law, and 1 granddaughter.

Per her wishes, the body of Mrs. Frantz has been cremated. The family will greet friends from 9:30 - 10:30 am Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the St. John's United Church of Christ. Reverend Mark Binder will officiate. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the church. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa.

A memorial has been established for the Old Settlers Association and St. John's United Church of Christ, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
