Gregory Albert Sallen, 67 years, of West Point, Iowa died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. He was born April 15, 1951 in Fort Madison, Iowa, a son of Albert and Bertha (Fraune) Sallen. On May 20, 1989, he married Teresa Kruse. She survives.

Greg was a 1969 graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School/Marquette High School, West Point. He served in the Army National Guard for 20 years, and was a member of the West Point American Legion, Holtz-Geer Post #668. He worked for Gary Sanders Masonry for years. He liked riding his 4-wheeler, going for a drive in the truck, and sitting out in his yard drinking a beer. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Sallen of West Point; one son, Joseph (Samantha) Sallen of West Point; one brother, Danny (Doris) Sallen of Donnellson, Iowa; two sisters, Charlene Sallen (Larry Kuhlmeier) of Fort Madison and Mary Ann (Richard) Moeller of Houghton, Iowa; four grandchildren: Sara, Gabrielle, Mason, and Hope; three nieces and nephews: Anthony Moeller, Michele Hand, and Andrew Moeller. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, West Point. His family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Friday evening at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. Mary's of Assumption Catholic Church, West Point, with Reverend Dennis Hoffman, as celebrant. A memorial has been established for the West Point Fire and Rescue, contributions may be made at the church or at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, 412 Ave C, P.O. Box 247, West Point, Iowa 52656.
