Hazel O. Kress was born February 8, 1931 at Fort Madison, Iowa, a daughter of Louis Eugene and Hazel (Lacky) Metcalf. On January 5, 1951, she married William J. Kress in Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death October 27, 1989. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fort Madison. She worked as a nurse at the former Sacred Heart Hospital.

At 79 years of age, she died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at her home in Fort Madison, Iowa. She is survived by two sons, Howard Ray Kress, of Sunnyvale, California and Gordon Kurt (wife Irene) Kress, of Burlington, Iowa; four grandchildren and two great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son: William Lane Kress.

The body of Mrs. Kress has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fort Madison, Iowa.
