Helen Doris Soper Lesnet was born March 2, 1933 in Des Moines County, Iowa a daughter of
Elmer and Clara Belle (Krumland) Schwartz. She first married Dale Norman Soper on April 25, 1959 at Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1975. She later married Jim Carroll Lesnet on July 11, 1981 at Wever, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1997. Helen worked at Sylvania in Burlington until they closed. She then went to work at General Electric and stayed their until she retired. She was a member of the Grace Bible Church, Wever, Iowa. She enjoyed camping, cooking, sewing, gardening and canning. At 77 years of age, she died at 10:15 pm Saturday April 3, 2010 at Burlington, Iowa. She is survived by one son, Gregory Soper, of Wever, Iowa; one brother, Alfred Schwartz, of Wapello, Iowa; one sister, Bonnie Schnedler, of Burlington, Iowa; one step-sister, Shirley (husband John) Russell, of Beaumont, California; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one son, Jeffrey Soper; and one brother, Ralph Schwartz.
Friends may call after 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, where the family will meet friends from 6:30 - 7:30 pm Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Grace Bible Church, Wever, Iowa with Rev. Todd Engstrom, officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Parkinson's research, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
