Ida Louise Sprenger, 96 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the West Point Care Center, West Point, Iowa.  She was born July 6, 1928 at Fort Madison, Iowa, a daughter of William and Mary (Kendall) Schumaker.  On April 17, 1948, she married Carroll William "Curly" Sprenger at Donnellson, Iowa.

She was a 1946 Fort Madison High School graduate.  She worked at Sheaffer Pen for two years and then raised her family.  In later years, she worked at Mid West Child Care for 20 years.  She enjoyed gardening, puzzles and reading.  She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ.

She is survived by three daughters: Carol (Jim) Kuhlmeier of Fort Madison, Iowa; Dee (Greg) Liddle of Wever, Iowa; Rebecca (Don) Sanders of West Point, Iowa; five grandchildren: Deborah (Sean) Wright, Tammy (Freeman III) Brown, Kelly (Marcus) Knustrom, Tracy (Nate) Parks and Stanley (Allyson) Sanders; eleven great grandchildren: Erica, David, Kaitlin, Kennedy, Adaley, Mikey, Opie, Mila, Paisley, Wyatt and Lane; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four siblings: Larry Schumaker, Eddie Schumaker, Nancy Hyhouse and Betty Rempy.

Family will greet friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 am Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa.  Her funeral services will follow and begin at 10:30 am Friday morning at the Barr Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jim Luder officiating.  Burial will be at Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison.  A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Sprenger Family.
