Ila "Jackie" Lowery, 91 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 12:09 pm Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born May 3, 1923, in rural Lee County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Hazel (Gillaspey) Jackson. On December 1, 1945, she married Frank Onel Lowery at Carthage, Illinois. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Lowery lived all of her life in the area and was a 1940 graduate of Donnellson High School. She worked in the International Department at Sheaffer Pen for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church and of the Double Ten Circle of Kings Daughters. She like collecting antiques. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Randall (wife Marilu) Lowery, of Mt. Prospect, Illinois; two granddaughters, Erin (husband David) Haberkorn, of Chicago, Illinois and Kelly (husband Daniel) Lawlor, of Chicago, Illinois; and two great grandchildren, Lucy Haberkorn and Liam Lawlor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Robert Jackson.
Her family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A funeral service will follow and be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Reverend John Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, Iowa. A memorial has been established for the First Christian Church, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
