James Stanley McCollum (Stan), 71, passed away on Saturday September 14th, 2024.  Visitation and funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 18th, 2024 at Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison. The visitation will start at 10 AM. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM and will be officiated by Pastor Earl Beal of Joy Baptist Church, Fort Madison.

Stan was born September 16, 1952 in Brookfield, Missouri to John and Charlotte McCollum.  The family moved to Fort Madison in 1956 where Stan lived the majority of his life. Stan graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1970 and then worked many years as a locomotive engineer on the Santa Fe.

Stan was a lover of motorcycles, cars, music, and his dog Theo who he affectionately called "big Guy."  He was a member of Joy Baptist Church and had accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and savior.

He is survived by his mother, Charlotte McCollum (Fort Madison); brother, Ed (Rose) McCollum (Fort Madison); sister Sharon (Mick) West (McAllen, TX); son Jeremy (Jennifer) McCollum (Mount Vernon, IA); granddaughters, Grace, Lauren, and Meredith; nieces (Shawna & Brooke) and nephews (Jared & Joel); in addition to many other beloved family and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his father, John McCollum.
