Jack Lee Dochterman, 73 years, of West Point, Iowa died at 6:42 am Saturday, November 28, 2015 at his home. He was born January 5, 1942 in Luray, Missouri, the child of Otho R. and Louie Mauree (Hall) Dochterman. He married Connie Lee DaVolt on July 11, 1964 in Luray, Missouri.
Jack was a graduate of Kahoka High School. He earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Columbia in January 1969. He was a Delta Sigma Phi alumni. He worked in various engineering positions throughout his life which accumulated into several research projects resulting in numerous patents, and into positions of responsibility. This career path led him to travels all around the world. He was in the United States Navy Reserves. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian church. He enjoyed several hobbies including hunting, fishing, golfing, singing, reading,and was an avid Mizzou football fan. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and hearing all about his grandchildren's academic pursuits.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Lee Dochterman of West Point, Iowa; one son, Brent (Julie) Dochterman of Houghton, Iowa; one daughter, Shawna (Bob) Robinson of York, Nebraska; four granddaughters: Mauree (Andrew) Haage, Darcy Dochterman, Christine Dochterman, and Kaitlyn Dochterman; two great grandsons, Shane Haage and Ivan Haage; and one aunt, Edith Dochterman of Kahoka, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy.
Per his wishes, his body has been cremated. His family will greet friends from 6:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, West Point, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, December 4, 2015 at the West Point Presbyterian Church, West Point, Iowa, with Reverend Richard Eis officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Sand Cemetery, Vincennes, Iowa. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the church or the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home.
