Janice R. Foutz, 56 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 2:46 pm Friday January 28, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa. She was born July 27, 1954 at Waukegan, Illinois, a daughter of
Ralph Earl and Mary (Stephens) Johnson. On July 6, 1973 at Keokuk, Iowa she married Ernest Foutz. They were married 37 years.
Janice was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was avid about studying the Bible and teaching it to others. She loved puzzles and was an expert seamstress. She and her husband Ernie managed several Super 8 Motels including Fort Madison.
She is survived by her husband Ernest, of Fort Madison; her father Ralph Johnson of Centerville, Iowa; two brothers, John Johnson, of Tennessee and Ralph R. Johnson, of Iowa City, Iowa; three sisters: Lily Northrup, of Iowa City, Mary Yoder, of Iowa City, and Kathy Bray, of Moberly, Missouri; one close niece, Renee Johnson and several more nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her mother, Mary, one brother, Eddie, and one sister, Edith.
Per her wishes, the body of Janice Foutz has been cremated. The family plans to have a memorial service at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3925 Avenue L, Fort Madison, Iowa. A local brother in the congregation, Ron Fish, will officiate. A memorial has been established in her name. Contributions are requested to be dropped off or mailed to Barr Memorial Chapel, 1919 Avenue F, Fort Madison, Iowa.
