Obituary

Janice Margaret Holtkamp, 78 years, of West Point, Iowa and formerly of Houghton, died at 11:55 pm Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the West Point Care Center, West Point, Iowa. She was born February 13, 1938 in West Point, Iowa, a daughter of Emery and Evelyn (Klesner) Moeller. On June 27, 1959 she married Donald Holtkamp at St. John's Church, Houghton. He survives.

Janice was a graduate of St. John's School, Houghton. She was a homemaker and farm wife, but also worked at Sheaffer Pen for a while. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, West Point and formerly of St. John's Church, Houghton. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, gardening, and snowmobiling. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Holtkamp, of West Point, Iowa; two daughters, Christie (Daniel) Kempker, of West Point and Nancy (Mitch) Hunold, of Donnellson, Iowa; one brother, Adrian (MaryBeth) Moeller, of Hillsboro, Iowa; one sister, Laverne Merschman, of West Point; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Jackie, one granddaughter Savannah, and three infant sisters.

Services begin with a Rosary at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, West Point. Visitation will follow the Rosary and continue until 4:30 pm Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the funeral home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 4:30 pm Sunday afternoon. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday, August 29, 2016 at the St. John's Catholic Church, Houghton, Iowa with Reverend Bruce DeRammelaere, as Celebrant. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Houghton, Iowa. A memorial has been established for Holy Trinity Catholic Schools, contributions may be made at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, 412 Ave C, P.O. Box 247, West Point, Iowa 52656 or at the church on the day of the service.
