Jeanette Cecilia Heins, 85 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Birkwood Village of Fort Madison.  She was born August 8, 1938 at Edina, Missouri, a daughter of Raymond John and Anna Marie (Linkenfelder) Karhoff.  She graduated in 1957, from Aquinas High School.  She soon met her first husband Bernard Steffen, the father of her three children: Rebecca Lynn, Marilyn and James. They later divorced.  On December 1, 1980, she married Glen P. Heins.  They were married for 33 years.  He preceded her in death on November 23, 2012.

Jeanette worked at the Army Ammunition Plant for about five years, at Sheaffer Pen for three years, and then she worked nine years as a CNA at The Madison in Fort Madison.  For 23 years, she was a snowbird, and loved to go to Texas during the winter months.  She was a member of the Holy Family Parish and the Ladies Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by her children: Marilyn (Joey) Brown, of Fort Madison, Iowa and James (Julie) Steffen, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; one grandchild, Kimberly Lee; two great grandchildren: Atticus and Isabelle; three step-children: MaryBeth (Jeff) Hoskins, Glen Fredrick Heins and David L. Heins, all of Donnellson, Iowa and numerous step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen, infant daughter Rebecca Lynn, siblings: Dorothy Davis, Betty McKoon and Larry Karhoff and one granddaughter, Amanda Ellison.

Friends are invited to join the family to pray the Rosary at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with visitation to follow until 3:30 pm Sunday afternoon.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am Monday, July 1, 2024 at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fort Madison, Iowa, with Reverend Gary Beckman as celebrant.  Burial will be at Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa.  A memorial has been established, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
