Obituary

Jeannine Haney, 97 years, of rural Wever, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at her home. She was born September 15, 1928 in Nebraska, the daughter of Fred and Bernice (Petersen) Hayes.

She was attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, when a mutual friend introduced her to Gregory Bell Haney. They were married on February 19, 1949, and were married for 72 years.  He preceded her in death on May 20, 2021.

Jeannine lived a full life. With Greg's career at Armour-Dial they were transferred from Omaha, NE. to St. Paul, MN. in 1963 then to Mt. Prospect, IL. In 1964 before moving to Ft Madison in 1973. They were active members of the Ft. Madison Country Club. Jeannine was an avid golfer. She competed in many golf tournaments and social events at the Country Club where they had many close friends.

Jeannine was a member of the Ft. Madison Hospital Auxiliary for 35 years. She worked in and later managed the hospital gift shop for 20 years and then served on the Board of Directors.  She also served as the Chairman of the Board.

Jeannine enjoyed gardening, plants, quilting, crafts, antiques and bird watching.   She was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching football and baseball. Her favorite baseball team was the Chicago Cubs.

She is survived by three children: Derelle Haney (the late Kyle Crocker) of Bemidji, Minnesota; Curt Haney (Kathleen Nelson) of Seattle, Washington; and Jeff (Therese) Haney of Hudson, Wisconsin; eight granddaughters: Katie Haney (Kammee Mam), Kimmy (Michael) Barrie, Holly (Eddie) Baronia, Jenny (Jared) Haan, Megan Haney, Rita Haney, Mia Nelson, and Marika Nelson; three great grandchildren: Miles, Charlie, and Maeverley; and several other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one step brother Jackie.
