Obituary

Jeffrey T. Weddington, 51 years, died in Wilmington, North Carolina on December 17, 2014, after suffering a heart attack. His grandfather, Harry J. Schroeder, Jr., died on this same date in 1987. Jeffrey was undergoing hospital treatment for a stingray tail puncture which led to a bone infection in his spine. He had been working as a commercial fisherman in the Wilmington area.

Jeffrey was born in Gainesville, Florida, where his father, Gary Weddington and his mother Susan Schroeder Weddington Miller, were attending the University of Florida. Jeffrey lived in Jacksonville, Florida, until he was 6 years old at which time he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where his father attended the Thunderbird School of International Management. After his father graduated, they moved to Los Angeles where Jeffrey was very active in football, baseball, soccer, Cub Scouts and surfing. He moved to Lake Tahoe in high school and was on the Squaw Valley Ski Team and again played football. He attended college in Santa Barbara, California, before returning to Los Angeles and working in the food industry for David Murdock's Regency Club in Westwood, California. In 1999, Jeffrey and his father formed a company called Perma-Guard in Wilmington, North Carolina.

He loved the water, and he and his father always had a boat. He was a Free Spirit and a True Love with a great sense of humor and an adventurous nature. He had an easy and pleasing way with all those that were fortunate enough to know him. He traveled to Europe, Central and South America, Mexico many times and all over the United States.

Jeffrey is survived by his father, Gary Weddington; his mother, Susan Miller; daughter, Taylor Weddington; four aunts: Mary Ann Frey, Cynthia Wiley, Suzanne Larsen and Cherie Herman; one uncle, Jay Schroeder and cousins: Amy Wiley Hamera, Mark Wiley MD, Ann Wiley, Christine Kovacs, Tony Frey, Sandy Burmeister, Wendy Horst and Christie Schneider. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Betty and Harry Schroeder; paternal grandparents: Sally and Roy Weddington and two cousins: John Lovinger and Catherine Frey.

"Grief never ends, but changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith. It is the price of LOVE."

A Celebration of Jeffrey's Life will be held 12:00 pm Friday June 19, 2015 at the Pavilion at the Fort Madison Riverview Park, Fort Madison.
