Jesteen G. Tieman, daughter of the late Jess and Neoma Briggs Tollman was born August 13, 1910 in Wayland, Missouri. She departed this life August 23, 2013 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 103 years and 10 days. Before moving from Iowa in 1993, she worked at the W. A. Sheaffer Pen Company, Dupont Corporation, Burlington Medical Center, and various laundries and restaurants. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and Gerald Leonard of Zion, Arkansas; two sisters: Helen Wiebler of Joshua, Texas; Betty James of Fallon, Nevada; one step daughter: Carla Lumberg of Burlington, Iowa; one stepson: Rodney Tieman of San Jose, California; eight grandchildren: Mike Clay and Robert Calhoun of Texas; Rick Calhoun and Becky Stover of Missouri; Jerry and Brian Leonard of Arkansas; and Brenda Wetteland of Iowa; four step grandchildren: Scott and David Lumberg, Carleen Daley, and Gail Lumberg; numerous great and great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by three loving husbands: Thomas Calhoun, Carl Smothers, and Jack Tieman; one son, Thomas Calhoun Jr; one daughter, Garnet Jean Calhoun; one step son, Jack Tieman; one grandson, Craig Calhoun; and five sisters: Emma Pranger, Lelia Eschman, Alathea Arnold, Mabel Stein, and Irene Wittemore.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28 at the Barr Memorial Chapel in Ft. Madison, Iowa, with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
