Joan Kay Pickard, 73 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 4:45 am Friday, January 22, 2016 at The Madison, Fort Madison, Iowa. Joan was born May 14, 1942 in Iowa, a daughter of Paul and Maymie (Chamlee) Wilsey. On October 23, 1967, she married Duane Pickard at Fort Madison, Iowa.
She graduated from high school at Bakersfield, California. She attended Kirksville State Teachers College and then transferred to Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant where she earned her accounting degree. She worked at Consolidated Packaging and Silgan Containers as an accountant and office manager. For a few years, she taught accounting at Robert Morris College, Carthage, Illinois. She enjoyed golfing, and took may trips to golf in the Ozarks.
She is survived by her husband, Duane Pickard, of Fort Madison, Iowa; three step-brothers: Scott Chamlee, of Arkansas, Mark Chamlee, of Illinois and Joe Chamlee, of Iowa and one aunt, Betty Baker, of Fort Madison, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. No services are planned.
