Joan Roewert, 89 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 9:52 am Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born February 16, 1927 at Akron, Ohio, a daughter of Riley Douglas and Clara (Roberts) Douglas-Los. On March 5, 1948, she married Emil A. Roewert at Los Angeles, California. He was preceded her in death.

She had been a Fort Madison resident since 1964. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Fort Madison, Iowa. She enjoyed golfing and loved spending time at the casinos in Burlington and Riverside.

She is survived by one daughter, Eileen Roewert, of Clarence, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Riley.

Her family will greet friends 9:30 - 10:30 am Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow and be held 10:30 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church, with Reverend Steve Rassmussen officiating. Burial will be at the Soldiers' Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established for Our Savior Lutheran Church, contributions may be made at the church or Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
