Joanne L. Jacobsmeier, 79 years, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of West Point, died at 7:25 pm Monday, May 23, 2016 at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was born in Mt. Hamill, Iowa, a daughter of Frank and Eleanor (Hunold) Joachim. On September 7, 1957, she married Ernest Jacobsmeier at Houghton, Iowa. He preceded her in death.

She was a 1955 graduate of the St. John's School in Houghton. For 10 years, she worked at the Breck Shampoo factory, five years for Sheaffer Pen, and six years for the Lee County Home Health Care. She was a former member of St. Mary's of the Assumption in West Point, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Holy Name Society. She was currently a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed ceramics, playing cards, and the St. Louis Cardinals.

She is survived by three daughters: Joyce Denning, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Lisa (husband Rick) Klesner, of Salem, Iowa; Susan (husband Pat) Pickford, of Wever, Iowa; one brother, Lester (wife Margaret) Joachim, of Wisconsin; one sister, Irene Jacobsmeier, of Mt. Hamill, Iowa; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Jerry Joachim, and a special son-in-law, Michael Watts.

Per her wishes, her body has been be cremated. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home in West Point. Her family will greet friends from 5:30 - 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home, where a Christian Wake Service will follow and begin at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Friday, May 27, 2016 at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, West Point, with Reverend Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant. Burial will be at the St. John's Cemetery, Houghton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Parkinson Foundation and Heart Association, contributions may be made at the Barr-Holtkamp Funeral Home, 412 Ave C, P.O.
