Obituary

Johnny B. Lovette, 96 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 2:00 am Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at The Madison, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was born August 9, 1917 at Meridian, Mississippi, a son of Richard S. and Emma (Allen) Lovette. On June 21, 1947 he married Birdie Ilene Lacey. She preceded him in death on October 6, 1976.

Johnny was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII. He worked for Sheaffer Pen for 15 years. He also worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and did construction. He was a member of the former Wever Christian Church. He loved his dog, Boomer.

He is survived by one son, John Lewis Lovette, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four daughters: Margo Ann (Roger) Droz, of Topeka, Kansas; Patricia Sue Lovette, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Rhonda Faye (Jimmy) Rossiter, of Gillette, Wyoming; and Judy Mae Lovette, of Fort Madison, Iowa; six granddaughters, 11 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters, Denise and Diane, three sisters: Ardelle, Emma, and Paroline; one brother, James, and one grandson, Dana B.

His body has been cremated. His family will meet friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel. A Memorial Service will follow and be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 14, 2014 at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Willis, officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established, and contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
