Joseph Allen Henderson, 60 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Saturday, June 19, 2021 at this home. He was born September 24, 1960 in Fort Madison, Iowa, a son of James A "Bert" and Rose M "Sudie" (Hansen) Henderson. On June 10, 1994 he married Janet Elfgen in Las Vegas, Nevada, they had two children, Laura and Daniel.

Joe was a 1979 graduate of Central Lee High School. He worked at several factories in the area, including Pinnacle Foods for 26 years. He loved his pets, was an avid hunter, enjoyed camping, mushroom hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He was active with his son in Boy Scouts. Joe loved his family. He enjoyed attending the Henderson Family Reunions. He thought of others, was kind, and always did his best.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Henderson of Fort Madison; his mother Rose "Sudie" Henderson of Montrose, Iowa; two children, Laura (Dan) Royer of Burlington, Iowa and Daniel (Abby) Henderson of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; six siblings: James Jr (Gina) Henderson of Cedar Hill, Texas; John (Anna) Henderson of Las Vegas, Nevada; Frank (Janet) Lawler, Benjamin Lawler, and Daniel Lawler all of Fort Madison; and Dr. Jennifer Lawler of Argyle, Iowa; five grandchildren: Daniele "It", Joseph, Brantley, Caiden, and Easton; aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and a foster brother Steve "Tiny" Lay.

His family will meet friends for visitation from 5:30 - 7:30 pm Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Barr Memorial Chapel, with Mr. John Griffith officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison. A memorial has been established, contributions may be made directly to Barr Memorial Chapel, 1919 Ave F, Fort Madison, Iowa 52627. Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Henderson family.
