Joseph "Joe" Herbaly, 67 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 2:55 am Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, Iowa. He was born March 31, 1949 in Galesburg, Illinois, a son of David F. and Agnes E (Staff) Herbaly. In 2002, he married Letae (Perkins) Durham in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Joe was a 1967 graduate of Hamilton High School. He worked for more than 20 years as a stock handler at Metromail/Metrogroup in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He was an avid pool player. He enjoyed playing horse shoes, fishing, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Joe was a Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Letae Herbaly, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one son, Thomas (Jessie) Durham, of Montrose, Iowa; two daughters, Susan Durham (Rod Calvert), of Donnellson, Iowa and Julie (Mike) Akers, of Des Moines, Iowa; one brother, Steve (Kristen) Herbaly; seven grandchildren: Shantel, Samantha, Cheyenne, Sierra, Abby, Hannah, and Michael; and two great grandchildren, Rodney and Leigha. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, one uncle, and one granddaughter, Makayla.

Per his wishes, his body has been cremated. His family will greet friends from 5:30 - 7:00 pm Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Reverend John Curtis officiating. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
