Josephine T. "Jo" Cantwell, 86 years, of Wever, Iowa died 12:15 pm Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Blair House, Burlington, Iowa. Jo was born November 3, 1926 at Rolla, Missouri, a daughter of James and Alice (Collier) Tyler. On July 3, 1950, she married Laurence "Larry" Cantwell at Rolla, Missouri.
She was a homemaker, and she was a dental assistant for many years. She and her husband Larry moved to the area in 1974. She was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, Danville, Iowa. She was a former member of the P.E.O. Chapter BS, Fort Madison and the Fort Madison Country Club. She enjoyed crafts, golf, sewing, knitting, quilting, dancing, and Big Band music.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Cantwell, of Burlington, Iowa; a daughter, Kris (husband Tom) Tibbets, of New London, Iowa; a son, Ronald Cantwell, of Houston, Texas; one brother, Tim Tyler, of Yuma, Arizona; two sisters: Peggy Eggers, of San Antonio, Texas and Patsy (husband Jim) Mesko, of Rolla, Missouri, three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Robert, Bill, James and John and three sisters: Catherine, Helen and Carolyn.
Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. Her family will greet friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Carrie Duncan, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the Masonic Cemetery, Bucklin, Missouri. A memorial has been established for HCI Hospice Care Services and the Danville United Methodist Church, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison.
