Joshua James Minton, 38 years, of West Point, Iowa died at 2:20 am Monday, June 6, 2016 at his home. He was born November 3, 1977 at Burlington, Iowa, a son of James and Denise (Hester) Minton.
Josh attended Burlington High School and spent most of his life in the Burlington area. He loved his music and playing the guitar. He was artistic and did tattoos. He liked to fish. He was dedicated to his family.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Denise and Tony Kempker, of West Point, Iowa; his father, James "Jim" Minton, of St. Louis, Missouri; one son, Connor Minton, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one daughter, Kinsley Minton, of New London, Iowa; one step-son, Derrick Helling, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one step-daughter, Macy Helling, of Fort Madison, Iowa; three brothers: Michael Helmick, of Washington, Iowa; Timothy Helmick, of South Carolina; and A.J. Kempker, of West Point, Iowa; three sisters: Amanda (Joey) Huston, of Nauvoo, Illinois; Sara Davis, of Dalton, Georgia; and Diane Minton, of Burlington, Iowa; a special friend, Stacy Betz, of New London, Iowa; one grandson, Asher; one step-grandson, Jaivonni; maternal grandparents, Shirley and Raymond Hester, Burlington, Iowa; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Georgianne and James Minton, one uncle, Mike Brunken, one cousin, Zachary Brunken, and his best friend, Tony Connolly.
Per his wishes his body has been cremated. His family will greet friends from 5:00 - 6:00 pm Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services, Fort Madison. A memorial service will follow and begin at 6:00 pm with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
