Joyce Marilyn Peterson, 75 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa, died at 3:00 am Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Fort Madison Health Center, Fort Madison, Iowa. She was born February 21, 1937 at rural Montrose, Iowa, the daughter of Henry A. and Georgia A. (Petty) Peterson. She was born and raised in the Montrose area. She attended Oak Grove School and Argyle High School. She worked as a nurses aid at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She also cared for the elderly in their homes. She was of the Christian Faith.

She is survived by two brothers: Wendell (wife Jean) Peterson, of Keokuk, Iowa; Leslie (wife Dinny) Peterson, of Littleton, Colorado; one sister: Evelyn Pierce, of Fort Madison, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Lawrence, Ernest and Merton and two sisters: Ruby Peterson and Fern Haugrud.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Burial will be at the Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, Iowa. A memorial has been established for Lee County Hospice, contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
