K. Michael "Mike" Bowen, 72 years, of Wever, Iowa died at 2:36 am Sunday, April 19, 2015 at this home. He was born April 3, 1943, a son of Kinzy Dale and Eva (Pruett) Bowen. On September 15, 1962, he married Nancy Werner at Fort Madison, Iowa. She survives.

Mike lived in this area most all of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1966 - 68 as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was a welder, and worked at Anchor Metals and Industrial Tooling. He worked 23 years of his career at Fruehauf, where he advanced to general foreman in the welding department. He was interested in the Indian Culture. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature, especially fishing, hunting, and jogging.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bowen, of Wever, Iowa; one son, Joshua Bowen, of Wever, Iowa; two brothers, James (Pat) Bowen, of Arizona and Vern (Jeannette) Peck, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one sister, Phyllis Shaw, of Hamilton, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Michelle Lynn Bowen; one son, Clayton Michael Bowen; and one brother, Frank Bowen.

His body has been cremated. His family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 am Wednesday April 22, 2015 at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services. A memorial service will follow and be held at 10:30 am at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services, Fort Madison, Iowa with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Burial with full military rites will be at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. A memorial has been established for PAWS, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel and Cremation Services.
