Karen Lola Dickey, 66 years, of Houston, Texas, and formerly of Fort Madison, Iowa, died December 23, 2024, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was born May 17, 1958, in Keosauqua, Iowa, a daughter of Matthew Wendell and Marjorie Lou (Sullivan) Dickey.
Karen graduated in 1977 from Fort Madison High School and in 1992 from Indian Hills Community College, where she received a degree as a physical therapist assistant. Following graduation, she worked as a physical therapist assistant in Iowa and Texas.
She enjoyed travel, learning about food and wine, and spending time with family; she loved the company of cats. She cared for her parents with devotion in their last years. Her kindness and generosity throughout her life will never be forgotten by anyone who knew her.
She is survived by a sister, Rhonda Dickey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as well as by aunts and uncles, Joyce Dickey of West Burlington, Iowa; Bill (Connie) Sullivan of Cantril, Iowa; Steve (Janell) Sullivan of Bettendorf, Iowa; Martha Sullivan of Milton, Iowa; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Karen's family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Barr Memorial Chapel, Fort Madison, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.  Pastor John Simpson will officiate.  Donations in Karen's memory may be made to Indian Hills Community College or to the community college of the donor's choice.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Dickey family and an online guest book may be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
